We all develop an ideal image of the family, specifically the nuclear family, which consists of a father, mother, and their children. The ideal image revolves around the father's commitment to his financial role and being a working father who provides for his family's various needs; and the mother who is responsible and takes care of her home and children. This seems like the ideal image of a complete family, but the hidden truth is that the greatest burden falls on the mother, as she is the educator and psychological support for the children. Is it possible for the mother to fulfill these two roles alone? And how can a child's personality be complete in the absence of the father's psychological presence?

The Impact of the Father's Absence on the Family's Psychological Relationship:

The emotional absence of the father leads to the collapse of one of the basic building blocks on which the family is based, as he is the basic identity of the family. Consequently, communication and stability between individuals are affected. Accordingly, children will suffer from low self-esteem because they do not find emotional support and protection in the face of challenges and difficulties they face outside. This highlights the importance of the father's presence in the psychological life of his children in protecting them from deviation and social ills.

The Father's Emotional Absence Leads the Mother to Depression:

Recently, in our society, as a result of misconceptions generated by colonialism and the ignorance it caused, the value and role of the man have been reduced to obtaining a prestigious job and providing various material requirements for his family, and here his role ends. This is a false belief that contradicts the teachings of our Islamic Sharia, and it has cost the woman her psyche and exhausted her until she is diagnosed with depression. She often hides this because she will be labeled with the ugliest labels from her environment, since her husband provides all their needs, so why is she collapsing psychologically? The fact is that it is known that God created woman with a specific physical structure and specific hormones that control her psychological and emotional state. Therefore, any functions not assigned to women and any accumulation of pressures affect her psychological state; and inevitably reflect on the rest of the individuals in the family. The father's absence from his emotional role is very exhausting for the woman and very costly for her psychological state, as it drains her until she reaches depression; where many responsibilities accumulate on her that she must take, and she is forced to go out to spend various needs of her children from transactions at school and communication with their colleagues and their parents, etc. The psychological pressures on the mother also increase due to the feeling of loneliness in teaching children, imparting principles, and developing them; and depression due to the father's absence at home. Consequently, it becomes difficult for the mother to achieve a balance between family, work, and self-care requirements.

Solutions to Support the Father's Emotional Role:

It is important here that we try to find radical solutions to the father's emotional absence; not to burden the woman with all the burden or look for external solutions, as the ideal solution is to restore the father to his basic role of education and psychological support, then material presence. There are things that the mother cannot compensate for the father or take his place, no matter how hard she tries. Among the things entrusted to us is to intensify media campaigns that explain the father's role, enhance it, and remind him of his basic position, and to activate educational courses that define the tasks of both the father and the mother, especially before marriage, so that both parents are aware of their responsibility and are prepared to bear it.

The father is responsible for his flock, as the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, says: "Each of you is a shepherd and each of you is responsible for his flock." His presence is necessary as a teacher, mentor, and guide for his children, and he provides them with role models and experience, as well as a support they rely on. These various factors are important and necessary in raising and preparing children, and there is no substitute for his role in their lives, even if his absence from them is for travel or due to work circumstances, or whatever his justification.

The father's presence in his children's lives is essential, and despite the difference between the father's role and the mother's role in education, the role of each of them complements the other, and neither can do without the other until family integration is achieved. The father's role is not limited to providing various material requirements, but his role requires him to participate with the mother in raising children and building their personalities and psychological balance and be present in making their decisions.
